Cato's Justin Logan had a great piece a earlier this week on W's decision in the State of the Union to trot out the hoary old slur "isolationist" to tar his many foreign policy critics. Apparently, the meme is spreading.
Reuters reports that federal marshals caught up with a couple of middle-aged dingbats in the New Mexico desert who'd been wanted for 15 years on drug and firearms charges. The officer on the case describes the pair -- brothers Greg and Geoffrey Rose -- thusly:
"They shared a hatred of the U.S. government. They have a strong dislike for federal workers. They seem to be isolationist and they had in their possession explosives," said Gorden Eden, U.S. marshal for the District of New Mexico.
I try not to be the paranoid type, but I can't help but get a bit twitchy when the only thing separating a federal marshal's attempt to portray a suspect as a complete lunatic and contemptible menace to society, and what would otherwise be a fairly accurate description of myself, is the word "explosives." Particularly when that same officer then goes on to note:
"The only thing was that was missing here was evidently that they had not sought an opportunity to use explosives against the federal government"
So....yeah, if anyone knows anything about the process for emigrating to Canada, Ireland, or New Zealand, I'd muchly appreciate it.
Charges dismissed, longest speedy trial violation in U.S. history. Arsenal of flintlock muzzleloaders. Just a bunch of lieing B.S. Lot more to the story. Animals all dead!
